Reef Check and Conservation
Reef Check and Conservation is a citizen science project for coral reefs operated by Better Blue. This project hopes to build a team of certified divers with professional reef check capabilities to allow more divers to participate in the collection of coral health and conservation data scientifically, while raising public attention on coral reefs and its ecosystems through the launch of coral reef health survey report and coral popular science activities.
Seahorse population conservation and census
The hippocampus, in the eyes of most people, is “medicine” and “food”, and few people know that it is a national secondary protected animal. In the IUCN and CITES directories, it is an endangered, protected species. The balance of marine biodiversity plays an important role in the marine ecosystem, and as the flagship species of marine ecology, the seahorse is one of the key indicators suggesting marine ecological health.
Clean Underwater Home
Clean Underwater Home was launched in 2019, which is based on the Dive Against Debris, a citizen science program developed by Project AWARE. Through Adopt A Dive Site, Dive Against Debris Data Challenge, and Dive Against Debris specialty courses, Better Blue allows more divers to participate in the underwater cleaning and monitoring of marine litter. And through the standardlized classification and reporting of marine litter, we can obtain valuable scientific data and promote the marine protection policies.
